About Leslie Ann Black
Black Bags is the creation of Leslie Ann Black. Leslie's philosphopy is that simple, uncomplicated, and classic styling is best. Leslie Ann Black has been sewing since in high school (70's), and she owes her skills to Aunt Betty Lou. Aunt Betty Lou, is the mother of two boys and welcomed the opportunity to have a girl's day of sewing with her niece. Leslie would start out with simple patterns and with each trip up the mountain (Berwick, PA) would see advancements in skills and techniques. Hopefully Aunt Betty Lou has forgiven her for those horrible John Wayne shirts with ruffles! Some things should never be repeated. About Black Bags The name Black Bags was taken in part from her married name, but more so from the philosophy of simple (the little black dress) things are classic. Color and pattern are a different story all together, anything goes with Black Bags. Fabrics can vary with each and everyday, with each and every mood. Some are fabulous reproductions, true vintage, and many are one of a kind finds with limited production. Black Bags offers a true ecclectic range of fabrics and color pallettes. To see the current portfolio of Black Bags, click here. What is special about Black Bags Black Bags are constructed from high quality fabrics, vintage and new reproductions. In 2007 Black Bags interiors (not seen by customers) has gone under a transformation. The bottoms are reinforced with 2 layers of milliners interfacing (very stiff) that is fused and sewn in place to provide a long lasting and stable bag bottom. 2007 has also seen an improvement in pocket construction, having all pockets (exterior and interior lined with canvas) to make them as durable as the rest of your Black Bag. All hardware is nickel plated (unless stated otherwise) to bring a clean crisp look to each bag. We will always keep looking for ways to improve our product. Black Bags does not accept custom orders. They believe that "People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing". - Dale Carnegie. Once the fun and excitement are done, then the quality will be reflected in the final product. "We have to really love what we do, to create a product that we are proud of. I believe in the independent creative process that is touched by human hands through every level, nothing mass produced.
